Deantini's Participation Challenge!
A message from Dean James Valentini:
"... To call attention to Giving Day, we held the kickoff for the Seniors for the Columbia College Fund — Senior Fund for short. At that event, I announced that I will match each gift made by a member of the Columbia College Class of 2018 to the Senior Fund, no matter the size, with my own gift of $20.18 to the Senior Fund. This means if all of you make a gift, I will be making a very large donation! I thought it would help to motivate you personally and to motivate your class as a whole to demonstrate your commitment to future students of the College.
As seniors, you are transitioning from current students to former students, and whether you invest in the College through the Columbia College Fund or give your time by interviewing prospective students through the Alumni Recruitment Committee, my goal is for you to stay involved with Columbia College throughout your lifetime.
Every year, to liven up the Columbia College Senior Fund effort, I ask the senior class to solve a riddle, and the first three Columbia College seniors to figure out this riddle get to have lunch with me. Here’s this year’s riddle:
As a deposit on my matching gift to the Senior Fund, I have already made my own Giving Day gift: $6,108. That amount is derived by a single multiplication involving two numbers representing days, months and/or years; one of those numbers is associated with my tenure as dean of the College and the other number is important to the Class of 2018 this year. Email email@example.com with the equation I used to compute my Giving Day contribution to win.
Thank you in advance for your support of the Seniors for the Columbia College Fund campaign and for helping make us the greatest college in the greatest university in the greatest city in the world. Be sure to check out the leaderboards on the Giving Day page today to see how we’re matching up to other schools.
Roar, Lion(s), Roar!
